Aim: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - use the simple past tense to talk about finished actions. - use the imperatives to tell sb to do sth and to give a direct order. I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to gain the following things : 1. Knowledge: - To teach grammar: The past simple tense. To practice using the past simple in real situations and the use “Imperative” in different situations. + Vocabulary: - use the words related to the topic Sports and Games;; + New words :aerobic; career; competition, equipment, fit, goggles, gym, karate, marathon, racket, score, shoot, sporty, take place, tournament - To pronounce the sounds /e/ and /ổ/ correctly; - express and respond to congratulations; + Grammar: - use the past simple; - use imperatives to tell someone to do something; 2. Competence: Students will be able to learn how to form and use the past simple tense. To practice using the past simple in real situations and the use “Imperative” in different situations. 3. Warm up: - Ask Ss to look at this sentence, give the correct verb form. Presentation|: Grammar : The past simple tense - Elicit Ss to give the form, meaning and use. * Form: (+) S + V( past) - regular V + ed - irregular V2 ( be-> was/ were; have-> had; win- >won; eat -> ate ) (-) S + didn’t + V(bare) (?) We often say when it happened. * Adv: yesterday, last night, last week, last year, last month. Ago (2 years ago), in + year in the past, III.Practice: 2. Activity 1. Choose the correct answer A,B or C. - Have Ss do the task individually and then compare their answers in pairs. - Tell Ss that when they do the multiple choice questions, they should first read the sentences (stems) and the options carefully. Then they should choose the answer that they think is correct by eliminating the wrong answer. Then they get the most likely correct answer. - Check and confirm Ss' answers. * Key : 1. C 2. B 3. C 4. A 5. B. * Watch out! - Explain to Ss that many English words have Irregular past forms. Give them examples. Tell them to write down in their notebooks and remember the past form of the verbs they have learnt. - be - was/ were. - see -saw- seen - do- did- done - have- had – had - go – went - gone .
